Federation, pharmacy downplay doping allegation

Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF) and Gishen Pharmacy downplayed a recent report by the British newspaper The Guardian entitled “Inside the doping hotspot of Ethiopia dodgy testing and EPO over the counter”which was based on its recent investigation that revealed “how easy it is to obtain doping products, uncovers disorganization at the Ethiopian anti-doping agency and catches leading athlete admitting to having taken performance-enhancing drugs”.

Ayana eyes double gold in London

World women’s 10,000m record holder and winner of the race at London IAAF World Champion 2017, Almaz Ayana aims double gold by winning the 5000m final which will be held tomorrow night.

Embassy hosts youth basketball clinic

The US Embassy in Addis Ababa, in partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the Ethiopian Basketball Federation, is hosting a two-day basketball clinic for Ethiopian youth from July 29 to 30, 2017 at the Ras Hailu Gymnasium in Addis Ababa.

Tirunesh, Almaz to lead Ethiopian team

The Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF) announced Wednesday a list of athletes taking part at the 2017 IAAF World Championships to be held in London from August 4 to 13. Three-time Olympic gold medalist Tirunesh Dibaba and 10, 000-meter world record holder Almaz Ayana will lead the Ethiopian team.

Horsemen sign four players

Ethiopian Premier League title holders St. George announced the signing of four new players. The three players joined the Horsemen from rivals clubs Sidama Coffee and Ethiopia Coffee while one player comes from Hawassa City.
